Munich The willingness of companies to hire Germany falls across all sectors according to an Ifo survey. The Ifo employment barometer fell to 99.5 points in September, after 100.9 points in August. “Against the background of the economic recession and with Look at the skills shortage companies are concentrating primarily on keeping their employees,” said the economic researchers on Wednesday in Munich.

In industry, the employment barometer fell again. Positive and negative answers are currently more or less balanced. In the service sector, the barometer was also down, but the IT sector in particular, as well as legal and tax advice, are looking for new employees. “Retail is suffering from the poor consumer mood. There are more layoffs than new hires,” it said. The construction companies were also cautious when it came to personnel planning due to the large number of cancellations.
