He says he’s changed in recent years – for the better. What has remained: He wants to make people laugh. But sometimes his jokes are meant to shake things up a bit.
He travels by bike and train, eats vegan and changed: Der comedian Atze Schröder describes his lifestyle in recent years as “more conscious”. “I’ve just gotten smarter,” he said with a laugh to the German Press Agency in Stuttgart. He also wants to talk about this in his program. But he doesn’t want to “proselytize”.
was at the beginning of the year Schroeder to be seen on a motif of the animal rights organization Peta. But the well-known Porsche Atze should also remain on the stage alongside the Peta-Atze. The attraction lies in this interaction, explained the 57-year-old. If “woke topics” are looked at through the glasses of Porsche-Atze, they would only get a drop height. “Woke” (German: “awake” or “awake”) is the common English term for dealing with issues of social injustice.
He also finds clear words in the current program: “If I were to fuck an animal, everyone would be upset. But if I eat it up, everyone would say ‘bon appetit’.” With examples like this, you can hit people in the head with something they didn’t expect. “Sometimes comedy has to be awesome.” It may get stuck in the throat, said Schröder. Such impulses are relatively new elements in his program. But he always wanted to send a laugh afterwards.
Most of the audience would like that, said Schröder. But some would drop out. He had already been insulted as a “systemling”. But these are just isolated cases. “After three decades of comedy, I can no longer take that into account,” he said before appearing at the SWR Summer Festival on Saturday (May 27) on Stuttgart’s Schlossplatz.
