Coach Sebastian Rivera suspended for match-fixing

WChilean tennis coach Sebastian Rivera has been banned for life for a record 64 cases of match-fixing. That gave the International tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) after a hearing in London of the coach who has been suspended since last summer.

Never before had unauthorized attempts to influence the result of such a large number of games been made by a single person.

According to the verdict, Rivera is no longer allowed to work as a coach again, play himself or even attend tennis games as a spectator. In addition, the 36-year-old South American, who was 705th in the world rankings as a professional, has to pay a fine of 250,000 dollars (254,473 euros).

The ITIA saw several violations of Rivera's anti-corruption rules as proven. The tennis coach is said to have attempted to "invent the outcome of an event" and also demanded money or other benefits in return for "negatively influencing a player's best efforts".
