The Bundestag has decided that the last three German nuclear power plants Isar 2, Neckarwestheim 2 and Emsland will continue to operate until mid-April 2023.

The Bundestag has decided to extend the service life of the three remaining German nuclear power plants until mid-April. The government motion, which was accepted on Friday with 375 votes in favor, 216 against and 70 abstentions, concerns the nuclear power plants Isar 2 in Bavaria, Neckarwestheim 2 in Baden-Württemberg and Emsland in Lower Saxony. No new fuel rods are to be procured for continued operation – representatives of the Greens and SPD in particular emphasized that the nuclear phase-out will remain in place.

More to come.
