“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” has had a better start on Disney+ than any Marvel film before it.
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” lands one starting record at Disney+. At least as far as the Marvel Cinematic Universe is concerned. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the most-watched streaming premiere of any Marvel film on Disney+ worldwide, based on hours streamed in the first five days. The streaming service announced this on Tuesday. However, the company did not give specific figures or previous record holders.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiered on Disney+ on February 1, 2023. The sequel to the surprise hit of 2018 hit theaters on November 9, 2022. “Black Panther 2” was also successful on the big screen, although not as strong as its predecessor. Part One is the 15th highest-grossing film of all time worldwide, grossing $1.349 billion. The sequel “only” made it to 87th place with around 842 million.

Disney + also wants to continue surfing the wave of success of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. From tomorrow, Wednesday (February 8th), the streaming service a making-of documentary ready. According to the press release, “Marvel Studios: Invincible Together – The Making of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” promises exclusive behind-the-scenes insights and interviews into the creation of the superhero spectacle.
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” can also have legitimate hopes for an Oscar. The Afrofuturistic science fiction has been nominated five times for a golden boy. Among other things, Rihanna (34) with the song “Lift Me Up” and supporting actress Angela Bassett (64) in the race. The actress has already won the Golden Globe in this category.
