Bitcoin star Bukele breaks with the gangs
IOn his Twitter profile he once described himself as the “coolest dictator in the world”, later he changed the description to “CEO of El Salvador”, meanwhile his name simply reads: “El Presidente”. Nayib Bukele, who not only wears a suit but also likes to wear a leather jacket and a baseball cap, has ruled the Central American country for three years. More than six million people live in El Salvador, only about as many as in Hesse. Nevertheless, Bukele has made a name for itself worldwide. In the crypto scene, some see him as a pioneer because he Bitcoin as official means of payment.
His own population is also supporting his course, in surveys he has already received approval ratings of 80 percent and more, he is considered one of the most popular heads of government in the world. That’s because Salvadorans associate him with a hard hand. El Salvador, which just a few years ago had the highest murder rate in the world, was able to push the numbers down after Bukele took office. There are now days when no murder is registered. Behind these success numbers, however, was a devilish pact – and President Bukele now has another nickname: Batman.
