Berlin the German industry expects a deep economic slump due to the energy crisis. “We anticipate that Germany into a massive recession,” said the President of the Federation of German Industries (BDI), Siegfried Russwurm, on Tuesday at the congress of the publishers’ association BDZV in Berlin.

It is now a matter of saving energy wherever possible in order to reduce demand. At the same time, electricity must be produced by all means in order to increase supply.

Immediate decisions and practical steps for the greatest possible expansion of the electricity supply are central – “through the rapid ramp-up of hard coal and lignite power plants, longer operating times for nuclear power plants and the maximum use of the potential of renewable energies”.
