As a kid, I missed the visibility of trans people

Hollywood star Eliot Page (“Juno”, “Inception”) wants to see more trans people in public alongside her. “I think it’s very important that we feel represented and see ourselves. I didn’t have that as a child,” said the 36-year-old, who came out as a trans person at the end of 2020, the “People” magazine.
The Canadian referred to problems that many trans people still face today: they are disproportionately often unemployed and affected by homelessness and are disadvantaged in health care. “My experience as a trans person and this life that I lead and the privilege that I have does not reflect the reality of most trans lives.”
But he also had to go through difficult moments, reports the Canadian. “I feel like I just barely made it in a lot of ways. But today I’m just being myself and grateful to be here and alive and taking one step at a time.” Page’s memoir, Pageboy, will be out on June 6th.
