The Taiwan-based group plans to quadruple its workforce to 70,000 in two years at its India plant, which opened in 2019, according to two Indian government officials familiar with the matter.

Foxconn is responsible for 70 percent of global iPhone production. Most are manufactured at the plant in Zhengzhou, China, which employs around 200,000 people.
Production there is currently limited due to the corona lockdowns. Apple had announced that there could be longer waiting times for customers with the new iPhone 14 Pro.
