ADAC: Trouble at the largest automobile club – economy

Much had not been missing, and the ADAC would have thrown overboard a dogma to which he has clung as doggedly for half a century as the Catholic Church has clung to the infallibility of its pope. “Free travel for free citizens” is this hitherto irrefutable principle of belief in Europe’s largest automobile club. But at the end of April, after the Ukraine war triggered the first price hikes on the energy market, the ADAC executive committee appealed to the 21.2 million club members to leave their cars behind whenever possible. And please reduce fuel consumption when driving. “In this respect,” explained ADAC President Christian Reinicke and his colleague Gerhard Hillebrand, who is responsible for traffic issues, “speed plays a major role.”
