“Nothing New in the West” has won four Oscars. Not only camera, film music and set design were awarded. The German production also won the award for best international film.

The German literary adaptation “nothing new in the West” by director Edward Berger has won four Oscars. The production was honored as best international film in Los Angeles on Monday night. There were also prizes for camera, production design and film music. Director Berger thanked his team and his family. ” Oh god, this means so much to us,” he said on stage.

His film is based on the novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque and tells of the horrors of the First World War. The film is only the fourth work from Germany that Oscar as best international film – after “The Lives of Others” (2007), “Nowhere in Africa” (2003) and “The Tin Drum” (1980).

The film was nominated a total of nine times and is the first German work to be nominated in the “Best Film” category. The awards went to cameraman James Friend, composer Volker Bertelmann aka Hauschka, and Christian M. Goldbeck and Ernestine Hipper, who are responsible for the production design. The film has so far gone empty-handed in two categories – the team from “The Whale” received an award for the make-up design, and the award for visual effects went to the team from “Avatar: The Way of Water”.

Acting Awards for “Everything Everywhere All at Once”

Two awards so far have gone to “Everything Everywhere All at Once”. Actor Ke Huy Quan won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Actress Jamie Lee Curtis was honored as best supporting actress, she was tearfully happy: “I just won an Oscar!”. The science fiction action film entered the race as a favorite with a total of eleven nominations. “Navalny” won the award for best documentary.

The 95th Academy Awards will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who also alluded to last year’s scandal during the evening. “Well we have strict guidelines,” Kimmel announced at the beginning of the evening. If someone gets violent this time – they’ll get the Oscar for best actor.

Last year, Hollywood star Will Smith slapped presenter Chris Rock for a gag about his wife and was nevertheless awarded one of the most important prizes, the leading role award for his performance in the drama “King Richard”.

Actor Dwayne Johnson, singer Lenny Kravitz and actresses Halle Berry, Eva Longoria, Nicole Kidman, Sigourney Weaver and Andie MacDowell appeared on the carpet – which this time was champagne-colored instead of red – this year.
